Nathan Sharp, owner of the Bada Bing Cafe in Woodlands, Peth, denies selling pot-laced brownies to a mother and her two young children in March, 2019.
Mr Sharp was charged under two counts of “a person must not sell food that is unsuitable”, but recently pleaded not guilty in the Perth Magistrates Court. He will stand trial to face the allegations that he said were a “total shock”.
Emily, aged 5, one of the alleged victims of the deadly brownies, told her Dad what she was experiencing soon after eating the brownies:
Dad my eyes are going … everything is jumping … the walls are different colours
The drive home was supposedly filled with screaming, terror and hearts racing so fast you couldn’t even count the BPM.
Once at the hospital, the family was left fearing something was wrong with Emily’s brain. Thankfully, that was not the case, and tests conducted by Perth Children’s Hospital showed the children and their mother had all allegedly tested positive for THC.
The only one that contained no traces of the drug was the father, Michael, who was also the only one who didn’t eat any of the brownies.
It’s yet to be seen when the trial will take place. Nevertheless, the outcome will be an interesting one.
