Leader of the Reason Party, Fiona Patten, has motioned for an inquiry into legalisation cannabis for adult use in Victoria.
Fiona starts off by stating that the House notes that the current prohibition model in relation to cannabis is failing.
She then motions for a seven-member Committee to be appointed in order to inquire into, consider, and report, on the legalisation and regulation of adult use cannabis products.
The Committee would be tasked with considering changes to the Drugs, Poisons, and Controlled Substances Act 1981. In particular, modifying the act to permit lawful cultivation, distribution, and possession of recreational cannabis.
