Another crop of cannabis will likely go up in flames shortly, after NSW Police discovered a property dedicated to large scale cannabis cultivation in rural NSW.
Strike Force Gozo had been conducting extensive inquiries in the area regarding the illicit cultivation of cannabis which led them to the property.
Resulting in a search warrant being executed in Byabarra, about 30-minutes west of Port Macquarie. The property was raided by Strike Force Gozo on Monday, April 20th. With great success claimed by the officers.
All in all, around 1,000 growing plants were discovered, along with 50kg of cannabis head ready to go. Total estimated value puts that haul at $2.3 million.
On top of the cannabis, a shotgun, rifle, and air-rifle were also seized as evidence.
Two men – aged 46 and 53, were arrested and taken into custody. Both were refused bail after being charged with a string of drug related offences.
From their appearance and clothing attire, it can be safely said they do not associate with the well-known Vietnamese cannabis growing criminal organisations – currently running rampant across Australia.
Facebook came through again, with some fantastic comments on the post shared on NSW Police’s account:
Go the Colorado road. Legalise it, tax it and use the money in a constructive way. Use the money to educate and facilitate medical research in its use. Do not demonize what can be used for good. Regulate it not prosecute. I do not use this drug but understand its usefulness. – Darrel H
