Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance

Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance

Founded in 2015, the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance (AIHA) is a not-for-profit association registered as an incorporated association with NSW Fair Trading. They represent businesses and organisations associated with the hemp industry at a national level. They operate State Chapters in Queensland and Victoria, and some Industrial Hemp Associations in other states are also members of the AIHA.

It’s a member-run organisation, with members operating in the food, fibre, hurd and medicinal cannabis sectors. They are looking to expand their membership in areas both existing and new. While they were formed to facilitate development in the hemp fibre and hemp seed food industries, they were also committed to supporting the development of an ethical Australian medicinal cannabis industry.

AIHA was founded to fill the need for a national organisation found in Australian federal laws and Australian regulatory bodies and organisations. They now collaborate with the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation on industrial hemp research and product development. They operate under the Associations Incorporation Act and their constitution was formed with the NSW Model Rules in mind.

Organizations and participants in the Australian industrial hemp industry are welcome to apply for full membership with the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance. Members of the public who would like to support the alliance are also welcomed to do so by becoming a non-voting Associate member for $50. Contact them at [email protected] for more information.
